Mechanical Engineering
I initially majored in mechanical engineering due to my interest in space and subsequently aerospace. I realized after beginning my studies that I greatly enjoyed just learning about how the world around me functioned and how I could harness that. I did several internships while in school, and due to the location of the University, most of my opportunities were in the manufacturing industry. During my senior year of undergrad, I was elected president of our newly formed rocket engineering team (Article). After Graduating I went to work for Toyota as a powertrain casting engineer, a role very heavy on project engineering. After a few years in this position, I decided to begin pursuing software engineering.
My Bachelors of Science in Engineering and my first career role as a primarily project engineer have given me a diverse exposure to many facets of the modern engineering work-flow. From first specification documents and bids, through approval drawings, trials, and commissioning.

My team and I placed 4th in our category, 12th overall, beating out quite a few larger schools while having one of the smallest teams in attendance.
(p.s Despite the order the article lists I am actually on the left-side, holding the rocket's aft section)
